Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, better called Ari Lennox, is an American singer and musician who hails from Washington, D.C., who was the first female to be signed to J. Cole's Dreamville Records record label. On October 21, 2016 she debuted Pho, her first EP under the Dreamville Records label. This was when she gained her first the attention of her peers. Shea Butter Baby, her debut studio album, debuted on 7 May 2019. Ari Lennox began uploading her music on the internet back in 2012 after she launched her debut mixtape, Five Finger Discount and debut EP Ariography in 2013. She continued to upload her songs online throughout 2014 and released her own single Bound. In July of 2015, she was featured on Omen's album Elephant Eyes on the track Sweat It Out. J. Cole, who was part of the Dreamville crew back then was interested in having her create Rihanna references. The announcement of her decision to be signed to Dreamville Records was made on the 8th of December. On the release album Revenge of the Dreamers II, she appeared on the song Backseat along with Cozz. On October 21, 2016, her debut EP was released titled Pho. Ari Lennox later appeared on J. Cole's song Change and also performed as the opening act on the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour in the year 2017. Also, she was featured on the tracks Nothing but the Best by EarthGang as well as Icarus along with Bas and her labelmates. Ari Lennox's first album Shea Butter Baby was released on 16 July 2018. The album's first single, called Whipped Cream, from the album was released on in September 5th, 2018, accompanied by a an accompanying music video. Then, in November, she released the singles 40 Shades of Choke & Grampa. The 13th of November, she dropped two singles titled One and Pedigree. One and Pedigree. Then she appeared on the Creed II soundtrack with Cole on a track entitled Shea Butter Baby on November 16 and released as a single on the 26th of February, 2019, to accompany her debut album with the same title. This track, which was released with a video posted on YouTube February 20, 2019 was watched more than 3 million times within the first 7 days. The singer was a part of the 6LACK's From East Atlanta With Love Tour during December 2018.
